Why Exfoliate your skin? Exfoliation removes the surface layer of dead cells that can limit your skin's ability to absorb oxygen, nutrients, and other beneficial moisturizing products like body butters, body souffle's and lotions. As you age, skin cells renew themselves more slowly than they did when you were younger and the natural "shedding" ability decreases. Your skin can be over-laden with old, dead skin - clogging up the surface and creating a dull lifeless and less-than vital looking skin. Exfoliating makes your skin feel smoother and silkier.
For most men and women, exfoliating two to three times a week is enough to ensure silky skin. The frequency of your scrub-down depends on your age (older skin may be too dry and delicate for lots of scouring) and the climate you live in. Warmer weather makes us perspire more and produce more oils, leading to speedier accumulation of dead cells. People with oily skin should exfoliate more often than people with dry skin. Oily skin makes it difficult for complexion-dimming dead cells to make their exit.
Too much of a good thing is not always better; avoid overdoing it. Exfoliating should be done with mild, gentle products like ours and applied without unnecessary force so it doesn't irritate the skin. Scrubbing too hard and too often will not help your skin. In the long run, it may worsen some of the problems you are trying to rid (wrinkles, acne, etc.)
Great results in healthy and vital looking skin come when you find a method and schedule that suit you and your skin. Remember: After any exfoliation and cleansing, follow up with a good moisturizer or night cream.

Salt & Sugar Scrubs
Exfoliate dead skin, hydrate living cells. Salt and Sugar Scrubs are an invigorating way to give yourself an at-home spa treatment that will leave your skin feeling incredibly silky and your entire body energized. The abrasive action of the salt or sugar will remove dead skin cells and open pores, allowing them to breathe. A vigorous scrub not only softens, stimulates and cleans the skin but also makes it look lighter. This is not advised for use on the face and avoid contact with eyes. All salts will have detoxifying and muscle-relaxing properties. The problem with salt is it will sting if you have any minor cuts or scratches you are not aware of. For this reason, never use a salt scrub after shaving, it will not feel nice! Also, in general the act of shaving is exfoliating (removing dead skin cells) so if you exfoliate before you shave you will get a closer shave and cut down on skin irritation. Also, the oil from the scrub can be used instead of shaving cream and will lubricate the blades of your razor. If you do not have sensitive skin you can use a sugar scrub after shaving if you want to keep the oil on your skin and skip the moisturizer. Directions: Take a hot bath. Apply the body salt/sugar generously. Massage yourself ((or let a friend give you a full body scrub
)). Work in a circular motion, starting with your extremities and toward your heart. Use on your arms, legs, buttocks, stomach, and your feet. Leave the scrub on your skin for 5 to 20 minutes, then rinse off well in the shower. Feel the penetrating oils work into your skin and make it glow like soft silk. This is an ultimate in-body experience. Pat dry with a towel. For a finishing touch, moisturize your body with one of our Body Butters or Souffles. Better yet, (if that friend is still there) have them follow up with one of our nice massage oils.
